THE SECOND Terada Mari Japan Study Award

   The Japan Institute for National Fundamentals (JINF) held the second Terada Mari Japan Study Award presentation ceremony on July 7 at the Nippon Press Center in Tokyo. Associate Professor Edward Marx of Ehime University received the award which was inaugurated by the JINF to help deepen understanding of Japan in the international community. Prof Marx received US $10,000 for his outstanding literary work entitled “Leonie Gilmore: When East Weds West. ”
   Japan Study Encouragement Special Award winner Professor David Hanlon of University of Hawaii also received US$5,000 for his work titled “Making Micronesia: a political biography of Tosiwo Nakayama.”The award was named after Ms Terada who donated one million US dollars to the JINF two years ago.
